Even though I am 8 years older… people always get confused as to which one of us is the elder sibling. This is probably because Gulgul carries herself with so much confidence and poise. Gulgul never fails to make me proud and I love bragging about her and all her achievements (usually not when she's around tho... I dont want her getting a big head!) … so here is a long laundry list of just a few of the things she has accomplished:
-She is currently a freshman at Duke...(A choice she made after respectfully declining a Full Ride Presidential Scholarship at SMU, a scholarship to Wash U, entrance to Texas’s new direct Med program, and schools such Johns Hopkins and Northwestern!)
-Somehow made the Duke Raas team despite having two left feet…hehehe =)
-Senior and Junior Class President and got to make her High School Graduation Commencement Speech
-Graduated in the top 1% of her class at Hebron High School
-Scored a perfect 800 on the English portion of her SATs and over a 750 in all other SAT subjects
-She has judged and gone to global finals in Destination Imagination
-Published multiple times in The Dallas Morning News and chosen as Student Columnist
-And much, much, much more!
Due to our large age difference we were never too close during our early years… in those days she would usually do something annoying, I’d somehow make her cry, and then Mummy would yell at me. However now we are the best of friends! Without her I wouldn’t know who to vent to, or who to learn how to shop from, or who to scare with my driving skills. There is no one else I would rather spend time with than her… we can have fun doing anything including organizing (this is mostly me having fun and her reluctantly obliging), shopping (her having fun and me reluctantly obliging), watching movies, watching serials, eating out (we’re both fat kids), and almost anything else you can think of! We even kept each other sane in the back seat of a minivan with no cell phone service while driving nearly 5,000 miles through British Columbia, Canada en route to and from Anchorage, Alaska =)
Gulgul is so incredibly smart and full of potential that I cannot wait to see what she accomplishes and what the future holds for her… because I know it’s going to be something great! Gulgul, thanks so much for being the bestest sister ever!
